Green Facade at Jumbo Assen Nobellaan – Sustainable Retail Architecture
For the opening of the new Jumbo supermarket at Nobellaan in Assen, the building has been given a contemporary and green appearance. The design combines functionality with a strong visual statement, matching the supermarket’s identity and the ambition to enhance and green the surrounding environment.
Green façade with Cloud Garden systems
For the realization of the green façade, solutions from Cloud Garden were used. The modular WallFlore system was applied, an innovative green façade system specifically developed for sustainable vertical planting.
The system used is the WallFlore EFIX system, a lightweight and modular solution suitable for both new construction and existing buildings. This system features an integrated structure of planting panels in which vegetation, substrate, and irrigation are fully incorporated. Thanks to the automatic irrigation system, the façade planting remains in optimal condition while maintenance is kept to a minimum.
WallFlore EFIX system – a sustainable foundation
The façade is built using the WallFlore principle, where durable cassettes and a carefully composed substrate provide a stable growing base for the vegetation. The system is designed with attention to fire safety, water retention, and long lifespan, making it a future-proof solution for urban greening.
Three green strips as a distinctive feature
On the side of the building, three vertical green strips have been integrated into the façade. These form a strong architectural accent that emphasizes the building’s height and creates a calm, rhythmic façade composition
Green appearance with impact
The combination of Cloud Garden WallFlore façade systems and the thoughtful design results in a sustainable and recognizable appearance. The green façade contributes to a more pleasant streetscape, increased biodiversity, and a modern, welcoming supermarket for visitors.
