Martyrs' Square Brussels: Sustainable Greenery in the Heart of the City

In the center of Brussels, on the iconic Martyrs' Square with its neoclassical architecture, a unique sustainable project has been realized. Inside the buildings on the square, green walls have been installed that add a vibrant and natural atmosphere to the interior. We completed this project together with our partner: Ecoworks.

Green living wall installation at Martyrs' Square in Brussels using the EFIX modular system, adding sustainable indoor greenery to historic neoclassical architecture.

The Vertical Garden Project

These green walls not only bring aesthetics and color to the indoor spaces, but also contribute to a healthier and more pleasant environment. They improve air quality, reduce noise and create a comfortable indoor climate for residents, visitors and employees. In addition, they enhance the well-being and productivity of the people who spend their daily lives in these buildings.

For the installation, the EFIX system was used — an innovative modular system that guarantees fast installation, sustainability and long-lasting performance. Thanks to its modular design, the walls could be installed efficiently, while the irrigation system ensures easy maintenance.

The result is a harmonious combination of historical architecture and modern sustainable solutions. The green walls within Martyrs' Square transform the interior into a place where aesthetics, ecology and comfort come together. The project demonstrates how urban buildings — even in historic city centers — can contribute to a healthier, greener and future-proof living environment.
