Green Facade at Eggert Purmerend
Investing in a Healthy and Future-Proof City
In the heart of Purmerend, a striking and sustainable addition has been completed: the new green façade at the Eggert Shopping Center. This living wall was designed and installed by Cloud Garden, using the advanced EFIX system. Together with our partner Snoek Puur Groen, we demonstrate how innovation and nature can reinforce each other within the urban environment.
A Green Eye-Catcher with Impact
The new façade is not only a visually appealing element in the cityscape, it also fulfills an important ecological function. Plants have a proven positive impact on creating healthier surroundings. The façade adds color, vibrancy, and seasonal variation to the shopping area, offering visitors and passersby a more attractive and calming place to be.
Sustainable Benefits for People and the City
The green façade provides several concrete benefits:
-
Improved air quality:
The planting filters fine dust and other harmful particles from the air. This makes the city center not only greener, but also cleaner. - Increased biodiversity:
The EFIX system creates space for various plant species, insects, and small ecosystems. In this way, we contribute to a more vibrant and resilient urban nature. - Reduction of heat stress:
Green façades help lower temperatures in urban areas, creating a more pleasant climate—especially on warm summer days. - Enhanced livability and well-being:
Research shows that greenery has a positive effect on people’s well-being. It makes the environment more inviting, relaxing, and enjoyable to spend time in.
A Shared Ambition
With this project, we take an important step toward a more sustainable Purmerend. The Eggert Shopping Center demonstrates that investing in green solutions benefits not only the climate, but also visitors, businesses, and the city as a whole.
This green façade is an example of how innovative solutions can help create a future in which cities are more livable, healthier, and more attractive for everyone.
