INDOOR GREEN
The cost of a green facade is highly dependent on a number of factors, like the system, the shape, and the size of the project. The average costs per m² are:
- Projects in excess of 25 m² approx. € 600 to € 1,200 /m² (EFIX)
- Projects under 25 m² approx. € 600 to € 800 /m² (MDL)
Yes, certainly. The investment is encouraged by the government because of the positive effects on the indoor climate.
There are various tax-related incentive schemes:
- KIA – small projects investment credit: 28% of the purchase sum
- MIA – Environmental investment allowance: 45% of the purchase sum
Random depreciation of environmental investments (VAMIL):
You can also opt for accelerated write-off in accordance with the VAMIL scheme: Random deduction of environmental investments: You can completely write off 75% of the purchase sum whenever you wish. You therefore delay payment of tax and achieve an advantage in respect of liquidity.

Yes, we have a fire safety certificate, Fire Class B-s1, d0 issued by Efectis, for the EFIX system. In addition, our plant walls help achieve BREEAM and WELL certification and SDG's.
Absolutely. Green plant walls make a positive contribution to different SDGs. Read more about Cloud Garden and the SDG goals in this article.
MAINTENANCE AND WATERING
A plant wall requires monthly maintenance. You can expect ten minor and two major maintenance sessions a year.
Minor maintenance:
- Green facade check
- Replacement of a few plants
- Removal of dead foliage
Major maintenance:
- Maintenance of irrigation system
- Pruning and preparation for summer or winter
- Cleaning the gutters
The plants in the MDL system need water once every three weeks on average. Plants in the EFIX system are automatically provided with water by the fully automatic irrigation system.
Yes, certainly. We take care of maintenance with our partners based on a maintenance contract. These are professionally trained partners that supply and maintain the walls in accordance with Cloud Garden's guidelines.
TECHNIQUE AND INSTALLATION
We use two types of systems. The MDL system was designed for projects under 25 m² and is equipped with a (semi-)hydroculture system. The EFIX system was designed for projects in excess of 25 m² and is equipped with a rockwool substrate.
The plant wall can be installed on all structurally sound walls with a load-bearing capacity of 50 kg per m². From concrete, brick, wood and plaster to steel.
It is good to know that the EFIX system can only be installed by our technical partners. You cannot install it yourself.
You can install the MDL system yourself. It is important for the modules to be installed level and for the backing wall to be able to carry at least 90 kg per m².
PLANTS AND BIODIVERSITY
Yes, absolutely! From a fully styled plant wall with rows or patterns to a staggered jungle wall with a mix of plants. We cater for all needs.
The indoor plants remain green all year round, provided maintenance is carried out correctly.
We operate according to a maintenance contract. There is an option to include the replacement of plants. After all, it is a living product that can be susceptible to various influences.

Also municipalities or provinces can stimulate you to choose for a green facade.

Our own WallFlore EFIX system is used for green facades. This is an easy to install facade system for (architectural) applications. Suitable for new builds and existing buildings. Read more about the technical specifications.
A fully automatic irrigation system provides the right levels of moisture for the green facade. From a basic standalone system to an advanced web-based system with options such as moisture and temperature sensors. Read more about the technical specifications
This depends on the size of the project. It takes around one working week on average. The WallFlore EFIX system can be installed very quickly compared to other systems.

MAINTENANCE AND WATERING
This depends on the orientation, choice of plants, and location. The right amount of water will always be determined in consultation with our experts.
Average water consumption:
Water consumption in spring 2.5 litres/m²/day
Water consumption in summer 4 litres/m²/day
Water consumption in autumn 1 litre/m²/day

A green facade is a sustainable choice. Since the system is made from sustainable materials, it basically ensures an indefinite lifespan, because the system does not need to be replaced.
How long do the plants on the green facade last? Plants are a living product. They require maintenance, such as light, water and nutrition. In addition, a few pruning sessions are necessary during the season. Our partners therefore offer maintenance contracts that include the replacement of plants. That way, you are assured the plants are always in good condition.
We recommend selecting at least 75% frost-resistant plants. This ensures the facade remains green throughout the year.

PLANTS AND BIODIVERSITY
Yes, absolutely! Every project is unique. We analyse the environment in consultation with an expert and advise you which plants support the biodiversity in your area. You then decide on your ideal plant mix.

Cloud Garden's green facades help improve local biodiversity. If desired, we first carry out an ecological scan before we cover the facade. We study the climate and the local biodiversity in the area and analyse the facade orientation during the day and the season. We then use all these insights to create the ideal plant mix, combined with bird houses and insect hotels to support the local biodiversity as optimally as possible.
It is possible to attach small bird houses or insect hotels to the baskets on the plantpanel. You can also opt to replace an entire panel with an insect hotel or shelter for bats, butterflies, or other small animals.
